PEACE // LYRICS

I sit
I watch
And observe the beauty that surrounds me:

Trees of every kind fill my vision; evergreens, maples, oaks
Their leaves blow gently in the breeze, swaying in a peaceful rhythm
One slowly departs its mother, reminding me that autumn is fast approaching

Way up above me, I notice the massive cushions
That consume the atmosphere
An endless gray sheet, yet it is not dull
It shines with the fury of the sun,
Desperately trying to push its way through.

Bees whizz by my head, their golden bands visible,
Paired with bars of darkness
A few swallows engage in a game of tag, playfully darting after each other
Some dragonflies begin to do the same, almost by some eerie coincidence.

I close my eyes
I can’t possibly notice much more, can I?

All of a sudden, the whirr of a lawnmower fills my ears
How did I not pick that up before?
Countless different pitches of bird chirps and calls ring in the distance
Tiny blips and squeaks of communication
The constant buzzing of cicadas orchestrates the aural background of my lawn

I don’t want this to end
I want to smell rain and flowers and dirt forever
Not sweat.
Not pencil erasers.
No fear.
No shame.
I want to feel nature
Run through my veins.
